This website has been established by the Township of Mancelona to provide information of interest to its residents and visitors alike. Those unable to attend Township Board meetings can review the minutes which are posted within 8 days following each Board meeting. Other information including points of contacts, telephone numbers and email addresses are provided as well

Mancelona Township is located in Antrim County and is almost centered between Traverse City and the City of Gaylord. Highway U.S. 131 runs through the center of the township with major arteries of M-66 going to Charlevoix, and M-88 which goes to Bellaire, Shanty Creek

The Township of Mancelona was organized and approved by an act of the legislature on January 18, 1871. It encompasses a portion of Otsego County known as Lakes of the North as well as a large portion of Antrim County.

The first election was held in April, 1871 at the home of Mr. Perry Andress, one of Mancelona's first settlers. The Township was named after Mr. Perry's daughter, Mancelona Andress.
